Course description: This course offers new and standard splinting approaches to management of congenital and acquired lower extremity differences that occur in premature and full term infants with select orthopedic conditions or with developmental and neurological dysfunction. The seminar component provides a review of congenital anomalies of the lower extremity and differences associated with prematurity and CNS dysfunction. A variety of extremity splint designs and taping approaches to these deformities will be presented. The lab portion will provide demonstration of ankle foot splint fabrication on a baby and participants will have the opportunity to fabricate an ankle foot splint.
