Workshop: Understanding and Managing Visual Deficits: A Guide for Occupational Therapists

Designed to enable therapists to understand the complexity of the visual system and how vision deficits affect activities of daily living, to administer a vision screening battery, and to plan and implement both compensatory strategies and direct intervention techniques (vision therapy) to manage vision problems. Intervention will be covered in detail for the following populations: developmentally delayed children, children with LD, acquired brain injury patients and the elderly. Participants will have the opportunity to practice the vision screening during a hands-on session. The 2-day workshop will provide you with practical applications that you can use immediately to achieve results.

Instructor: Mitchell Scheiman, OD, PhD, is an optometric educator, researcher, lecturer, and author including the book Understanding and Managing Visual Deficits: A Guide for Occupational Therapists. Appropriate for therapists working in adult rehab, the elderly, pediatrics and schools.

Cost: $300 greater than 2 months prior to workshop, $360 greater than one month prior to the workshop, and $390, thereafter.
